In 1985, Tri-Mach Custom Machining & Fabrication Ltd. was born. Three machinists (hence the name Tri-Mach) opened their doors on Breithaupt Street in Kitchener, Ontario. Their focus: rebuilding parts for machinery used in local tire manufacturing plants and the J.M. Schneiders® food processing plant.
When Uniroyal® and B.F. Goodrich® closed their manufacturing plants in Kitchener, it was a huge blow to Tri-Mach, and it was clear that the original business plan would have to change. As the only original founder remaining, Jake Halapir kept Tri-Mach going against all odds, re-focusing the business to gear it entirely to the food industry.
Tri-Mach Group Inc. and Ever-Kleen® Technology
In the year 2000, Michael Hahn was a red seal millwright working as the maintenance manager at Keybrand Foods in Kitchener, a regular Tri-Mach customer. After working together for 5 years, Jake Halapir encouraged Michael to become a part owner of Tri-Mach and help him grow the business. It was an exciting step for the company, and one which provided exponential growth. With Michael’s leadership, Tri-Mach Custom Machining & Fabrication became Tri-Mach Group Inc – a complete end-to-end solutions provider with electrical, millwrighting, steel fabrication, machining, and design engineering divisions.
In 2008, Tri-Mach Group transformed the food industry with the introduction of its revolutionary sanitary Ever-Kleen® conveyor system, a product line that has provided food processors with the highest level of food safety ever since its introduction. It was during this year that a major Canadian meat manufacturer suffered a serious listeriosis outbreak. As the entire food industry revised their safety standards, they looked to leaders of sanitary design – and that’s when Tri-Mach Group’s Ever-Kleen® technology began to take the spotlight.
Growth, Innovation & Our Future
The great things we did on Breithaupt Street have grown into astonishing feats of engineering on Donway Court.
In 2012, Tri-Mach Group Inc. moved from the 14,000-square-foot Kitchener facility to a new, custom-designed 27,000-square-foot facility in Elmira. Today, Tri-Mach Group Inc. employs over 80 skilled tradespeople, project managers, salespeople, and administrative staff. As a leading multi-trade, turn-key solutions provider of sanitary equipment, we are proud to offer best-in-class services for the Food Processing, Liquid Processing, Pharmaceutical, and Nutraceutical industries world-wide.
In 2017 the company underwent structural changes to upper management. Mike Hahn was appointed Chairman of the Board, Krystal Darling was to Chief Executive Officer, and Ryan Martin to President.
In 2019 Tri-Mach moved into a new headquarters at 18 Donway Court, next to their current one. This building is 3 times the size, offering additional shop and office space for future growth.
Since day one, we’ve been committed to providing outstanding service that matches outstanding products. And now, 35 years later, we’re leading the industry with that same commitment.
Although the technology we use, the safety standards we follow, and the things we build may change at any moment, the world-class experience that we provide to our customers will never waver.
